hello, my name is zoe! i'm from the german speaking region of switzerland, though english is my mother tongue. i am an aspiring neuropathologist, and hope to acquire a medical degree someday. fun fact: 01. my laptop is decorated with yuri stickers. 02 i play electric guitar- a slash les paul.
at 3 years old i rode my first ever horse on a 'Ponykarussell' (lit. pony carousel), previously a popular attraction for children at christmas markets in the 00s. i'm not sure how my parents overlooked the mistreatment in it, as the ponies walk around in circles aimlessly for hours at a time.
Ponykarussellen are still generally permitted, though they must meet animal welfare regulations. switzerland is pretty strict about that - e.g one is not allowed to house a horse alone. you must house a minimum of 2 horses in the same stable, or else it counts as tierquälerei.
i then began riding lessons at 4 years old and continued to ride for a year before moving away. after over a decade i began riding again via therapeutic riding. therapeutic riding is aimed to promote physical and mental wellbeing, especially for those with special needs. after rekindling my love for the equine, i picked up riding lessons weekly and have since put well over 200 hours into riding. you can read here about the horses i currently ride with!
the discipline im most interested in pursuing is endurance riding. endurance encompasses competitive long-distance riding where the rider and their horse walk for hours at a time with little breaks, prioritizing equine health. i tried jumping once or twice and i sucked so bad, i remember crying in one of the lessons. ![]()
